My translation of an excerpt from the France24 report:

Spanish company, Rivera del Arroz, has rented 4000 hectares of land from the Moroccan government since 2007. The land is surrounded by a belt of impoverished villages, including the village of Chlihat. Thursday morning, 400 locals descended to an area of land that had been cultivated since mid-May by the company and attempted to prevent tractors from plowing the land. Locals protested against their exploitation by the company, which they claim is in defiance of an agreement with the local community. The residents said that the intensive production of rice has also caused a proliferation of mosquitoes.

As evident through the above photos, Moroccan forces were quick to employ violent force to disperse protesters. Additionally, Mamfakinch has been curating videos of locals giving accounts of forces driving people out of their homes, destroying livestock (killing cows, chickens, etc.), stealing food, and littering the surrounding area with water bottles and wrappers.
